In a nutshell, a school supply kit program just makes back-to-school shopping easier for students, parents, and teachers by providing customized prepackaged school supply kits that are delivered to school prior to the first day.

Simply put, you send us your school supply lists, and we build our school supply kits to exactly match what you tell us. We offer the name brand school supplies that families love and teachers trust. We do all of the work, so parents don’t have to spend their time searching and shopping for back-to-school items. And then, on the very first day of school, students have the required school supplies they need to learn, which means teachers can start teaching. Everybody wins!

How Does a School Supply Kit Program Work?

At Sprout, we have local, dedicated Sprout Account Managers that are assigned to schools across the country based on location. Our Sprout Account Managers work with partnering schools and school districts from initial introduction right up to the day we deliver the school supply kits to school. 

Step One: Get Your School Supply List Quote

Send us your current school supply list. It really is that simple. Provide your school supply list for this school year, or if you are on top of your game and have your school supply list ready for next school year, that is even better. We start by entering each grade’s school supply list into our system. Once each grade has been entered, we will provide you with an estimate of cost by grade. Your quote will include name brand school supply products, along with our Sprout Saver as available options for some items. Our Sprout Saver products offer cost-saving options on name brand products like Elmer’s Glue, Expo Dry Erase Markers, and Ticonderoga Pencils, to name a few.

Step Two: Become a Sprout School Supplies Partner

Review your quote. Once we have sent you the quote, review the items on the list and the total cost per kit per grade. Make sure to note that we offer free shipping to your school based on your delivery day preference. If the kit prices look good and you are ready to proceed, we will send you a contract. Once signed, you will be an official school partner of Sprout School Supplies. Please note that you are not locked into the these kits prices. These prices are quotes only and your team will have the ability to make changes and updates to your list as we work toward finalizing your school supply lists. 

Step Three: Finalizing Your School Supply List

During the months of January, February, and March, we ask you to work with your staff and teachers to review the supply lists quoted for each grade and make changes and updates to your lists. At Sprout, we're here to help make this process as easy as possible for your team! We start opening school sale pages in early April, so it is ideal to start getting your teachers’ feedback and changes in January through March. Based on these changes, we will present you with a final school supply kit quote featuring updated kit prices by grade.  

Step Four: Give Back to Your Local School Community

As an option, we provide each of our partnering schools with the opportunity to add royalty dollars to the price of each grade level kit. At the close of your sale, those dollars are given back to your school community or PTA, in the form of a check, to use toward expenses and activities at your school. This is a very popular program with our schools and provides an easy way for your school to earn money.

Step Five: The Sprout Pay-It-Forward Program

At Sprout, we believe that every student should have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. This belief inspired us to create the Sprout Pay-It-Forward Program, which provides families with the opportunity to purchase additional kits to be donated to deserving students in their child’s classroom. At the end of your school’s supply kit sale, your Sprout representative will provide a final sales report listing the number of PIF kits per grade, so you will be able to assign the donated school supply kits to students upon delivery day.

Once your school supply lists and prices are approved, we build your school’s sales page, where families can visit to purchase their child’s school supply kit. It is our mission to save families time and money on back-to-school shopping, so in just a few clicks of the mouse and from the comfort of their own home, families can complete their back-to-school shopping in a matter of minutes.

Step Six: Your School Sales Page Goes Live

Once your school supply lists and prices are approved, we build your school’s sales page, where families can visit to purchase their child’s school supply kit. It is our mission to save families time and money on back-to-school shopping, so in just a few clicks of the mouse and from the comfort of their own home, families can complete their back-to-school shopping in a matter of minutes.

Step Seven: Your School Supply Kit Sale

Throughout the course of your online school supply kit sale, your Sprout Account Manager will be in contact, providing you with prewritten marketing communication material and social media pieces that you can send out to parents. These prewritten pieces are as easy as cut and paste and provide a simple way to communicate your sale to parents. Your Sprout Account Manager will also keep you up to date with reporting on the progress of your sale and working with you to choose a delivery day that works for you and your team.

Step Eight: Delivery Day

This is a very exciting day! We guarantee delivery to your school prior to the first day. Most schools request that they be delivered approximately 2-3 business days before your Back-To-School Event. Your kits will be delivered to school, along with a student checklist for your sign off and confirmation of all kits. Kits will be delivered inside to a location of your choosing. Most schools choose the gymnasium, main entrance, or cafeteria. Many partner schools then coordinate help from PTO parents and/or volunteers to aid with the distribution of kits to classrooms or to run the kit pick up stations at the Back-to-School Event.
